Description:
A superb 4-day trek to discover the Casamance River, its islands, authentic villages, and to enjoy unforgettable encounters.

Day 1: Oussouye – Mlomp – Pointe St. Georges – approx. 4h30 walking

A short vehicle transfer takes us to a trail through the bush, lined with cashew trees, leading to the village of Mlomp. We visit the museum and the multi-storey traditional huts before having lunch on site.
In the afternoon, we hike through mangroves and rice fields, crossing traditional bridges to reach the Kanoufa platform. We climb to the top of a kapok tree, 25 m high, to enjoy a 360° view over the river, the bush, and the canopy.
We then take a vehicle to spend the night in Pointe St. Georges on the banks of the Casamance River.

Day 2: Pointe St. Georges – Aher – Itou – Niumun – approx. 35 min pirogue – 4h30 hiking

In the morning, we cross the river by pirogue to reach the village of Aher. We begin a roughly 4-hour hike through bush areas and small forest patches to arrive at the first village, Kande.
We continue to the village of Itou, where a pirogue takes us across to Niumun. Lunch in Niumun.
In the afternoon, we visit this village and its various districts. Dinner and overnight stay in Niumun.

Day 3: Niumun – Karabane – Egueye – approx. 1h30 pirogue – 1h30 hiking

We head upriver by pirogue to reach the island of Karabane. We visit the island and the remains of this former colonial trading post, then cross the island on foot to meet our pirogue again and continue to Egueye.
Lunch. In the afternoon, a kayak trip allows us to discover the local ecosystem. Dinner and overnight stay at the ecolodge.

Day 4: Egueye – Oussouye – approx. 4h30 hiking

Crossing a shallow ford, we reach the village of Diantène, then follow small trails through the palm grove to the village of Oukout before arriving in Oussouye. Lunch.
In the afternoon, we visit the six villages that make up the Kingdom of Oussouye, united by their traditions and geographical ties (fetish sites, cashew-processing units, artisans).
End of the tour.
