Description:
A 5-day adventure combining mountain biking, trekking, kayaking and traditional pirogue excursions to discover the banks of the Casamance River, the islands of Egueye and Eloubaline, the traditions of Oussouye, and the beaches of Cap Skirring.
DAY 1: EYUN – ELOUBALINE – 20 km Mountain Biking – 2 hrs by Pirogue
In the morning, ride across rice fields to reach the village of Siganar and its many districts, where you will discover sacred fetish sites and the traditional palaver tree. Continue to Edioungou for lunch.
In the afternoon, board a traditional pirogue and travel through the heart of the mangroves to Eloubaline Island. Visit the village and its traditional impluvium houses.
Return by pirogue.
Dinner and overnight stay in Edioungou.
DAY 2: OUSSOUYE – ELINKINE – MLOMP – POINTE SAINT-GEORGES Approx. 15 km Mountain Biking –20 mn walking , 1 hr by Pirogue
Departure along tracks through the forest and palm groves to reach Mlomp. Visit the famous two-storey traditional houses and the local museum before lunch.
Leave the bicycles and after 20 mn by feet , continue by pirogue to Pointe Saint-Georges.
Depending on the day and conditions, there may be opportunities to observe dolphins and manatees.
Dinner and overnight stay in a riverside camp.
DAY 3: POINTE SAINT-GEORGES – MLOMP – OUSSOUYE – EGUEYE Approx. 30 km Mountain Biking – 3 hrs Trekking
A short vehicle transfer takes us to Kanoufa. Climb the observation platform located 25 metres high in a giant kapok tree to enjoy spectacular views over the canopy, the river and the surrounding bush. Trek along savannah trails and cross traditional bridges through the mangroves before reaching Mlomp. Return to Oussouye by mountain bike for lunch.
In the afternoon, cycle through the Oukout palm grove and the village of Diantène before arriving on Egueye Island. Dinner and overnight stay in Egueye.
Note: Advance booking is required to access the Kanoufa observation platform. Enjoy a breathtaking 360° panoramic view over the river and the savannah.
DAY 4: EGUEYE – BOUCOTTE – Approx. 2 hrs 30 mins Kayaking – 20 km Mountain Biking
In the morning, enjoy a kayaking excursion to discover the unique mangrove ecosystem. Lunch in Egueye.
In the afternoon, join the paved road towards Boucotte on the Atlantic coast. Depending on the tide, part of the route may follow the beach.
Dinner and overnight stay in Boucotte.
DAY 5: CAP SKIRRING – DIEMBERING – BOUYOUYE – BOUCOTTE
Approx. 20 km Mountain Biking
Follow the road and several dirt tracks to reach the Diembering Ecopark for lunch.
On the return journey, visit the Diola village of Boucotte before heading back to the camp.
End of the programme.
