Description : 3 days of mountain biking, pirogue trips, trekking and kayaking to discover the most beautiful sites in the region.
A unique combination of Diola culture and traditions, combined with exceptional natural landscapes.
Day 1 – OUSSOUYE – ELOUBALINE – MLOMP – POINTE SAINTE GEORGES – Aprox. 17 km MTB – aprox. 2 h 15 min Pirogue
In the morning, a short mountain-bike transfer to Edioungou, passing through the surrounding villages, followed by a pirogue trip of approximately 45 minutes , riding through tunnels of mangroves, to visit Eloubaline Island and its traditional houses with rainwater-collection courtyards.
Return to Edioungou by pirogue (45 min) and lunch.
In the afternoon, we set off by mountain bike along a trail through the forest to reach Mlomp. Visit of the museum and the traditional two-storey houses. We leave our mountain bikes behind and board a pirogue to Pointe Saint-Georges (approximately 45 minutes through the mangrove). Depending on the day, there may be opportunities to observe dolphins and manatees.
Dinner and overnight stay at a local campement (guesthouse) on the banks of the Casamance River.
Day 2: POINTE SAINTE GEORGES – KANOUFA – ELINKINE – KARABANE – EGUEYE – aprox. 3 h Hiking – 12 km MTB – aprox. 1 h by pirogue
After breakfast, Short vehicle transfer to the Kanoufa forest, where we climb up to platform located 25 metres above the ground, high up in a giant kapok tree, to observe the forest canopy, the river and the surrounding bush . We then begin our hike through savannah, rice fields and waterways, which we cross using traditional bridges, before reaching Mlomp. We then get back on our mountain bikes for 12 km of road cycling to reach Elinkine.
In the afternoon, we travel by pirogue to the island of Karabane, to visit colonial remnants like a Breton church and cemetery still remain. Our journey continues by pirogue to the island of Egueye, where we spend the night at a welcoming eco-lodge surrounded by water and tranquility.
Note: Reservations are required for the Kanoufa canopy platform. Access involves a tree-climbing-style ladder with a safety harness and cable system.
Day 3: EGUEYE – OUSSOUYE – Aprox. 2 h 30 en kayak – 14 km MTB
In the morning, kayaking excursion to discover the mangrove ecosystem, including seabirds and mangrove reforestation areas. It’s a peaceful and immersive way to connect with nature. We return to the eco-lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, we head back to Oussouye by mountain bike, following scenic trails through palm groves or the protected Oukout forest, closing our journey through the heart of rural Casamance.
