Days of hiking, with some kayaking, to discover the most beautiful natural sites in the region.
Day 1: OULOUF – KAYAK – 6 KM HIKE – 2.5-HOUR KAYAKING
Morning visit to six villages united by their traditions and geographical location, to gain an understanding of animist traditions. Visit of sacred fetishes, traditional houses, local artisans, and cashew nut processing units.
Lunch in Oussouye.
In the afternoon, on foot or by bicycle, we will head to our kayaking base for an approximately 2.5-hour loop through the mangrove, including passages through small, hidden bolongs surrounded by gallery forest. We may encounter fishermen, women collecting shellfish, or people gathering deadwood.
Dinner and overnight stay in Oussouye.
Note: If possible, a meeting with the King of Oussouye will be arranged. Activities may be reversed depending on the tides.
Day 2: OUSSOUYE – MLOMP – POINTE SAINT-GEORGES – 16 KM HIKE – 45-MINUTE PIROGUE RIDE
Following bush tracks lined with cashew trees, we arrive in the village of Mlomp. Visit of the village, including its traditional two-storey houses and colonnades and museum
Lunch.
We continue along village paths and through the rice fields, where we board a traditional pirogue that takes us to Pointe Saint-Georges.
Short walk around the village and along the riverbank, with the possibility of spotting manatees depending on the day.
Dinner and overnight stay at a camp in Pointe Saint-Georges.
Note: Depending on the tides, boarding may take place at Djiaramete, with a short vehicle transfer.
Day 3: POINTE SAINT-GEORGES – MLOMP – OUSSOUYE – EGUEYE – 20 KM HIKE – 20-MINUTE TAXI TRANSFER
Short vehicle transfer to the Kanoufa forest, where we climb onto a platform located 25 metres above the ground, at the top of a giant kapok tree, to observe the canopy, the river, and the surrounding bush.
We then begin a 9-km hike through savannah, rice fields, and waterways, crossing traditional bridges to reach Mlomp.
Taxi transfer to Oussouye. Lunch.
In the afternoon, we cross the rice fields to reach the village of Oukout, including its sacred fetish site. We then enter the palm groves and walk in the shade along small paths leading to Diantène.
We continue by crossing a shallow ford to reach Egueye Island.
Dinner and overnight stay at the ecolodge.
Walking time: approximately 3 hours.
Day 4: EGUEYE – OUSSOUYE – 2.5-HOUR KAYAKING – APPROX. 16 KM HIKE
Morning kayaking excursion to discover the bolongs around Egueye Island, with mangrove reforestation activities and opportunities to observe numerous seabirds.
Lunch at the camp.
In the afternoon, return to Oussouye via the Nialobodg forest.
Dinner and overnight stay in Oussouye or Edioungou.
Day 5: EYUN ELOUBALINE – 15 KM HIKE – 1.5-HOUR PIROGUE RIDE
In the morning, we cross the large rice fields to reach the village of Siganar and its many neighbourhoods. Along the way, we discover numerous sacred fetish sites, a traditional meeting tree, and traditional houses.
We then continue towards the village of Karounat before returning to Edioungou, where we have lunch.
In the afternoon, we take a traditional pirogue and navigate for approximately 45 minutes to reach Eloubaline Island.
Visit of the village and its traditional houses featuring impluvium courtyards, designed to collect rainwater.
We then return to Edioungou by pirogue.
Depending on the return schedule, we will return to the agency on foot or by taxi (3 km).
